Hose Bib Winterization
Posted on Oct 8th, 2026

With October comes colder weather. Which means it is time to turn off water to your outdoor hose bibs to keep pipes from freezing that might result in damage to the pipe.
  • Locate your shut-off valve inside your home.
  • Shut off the indoor valve(s). Keep in mind that if you you are an end unit, you will have two hose bibs to tend to and each will have its own corresponding shut-off valve to close.
  • Detach your hoses. Next, you’ll need to detach your hoses from your spigots, making sure to drain them before putting them into storage.
  • Store your hoses indoors. Keeping them indoors will protect them from damage caused by freezing temperatures outside and ensure they remain in good condition.
  • Leave faucets open for the winter. Once you’ve removed the garden hoses, turn any outdoor faucets to the “on” position, leaving them open for the winter.
  • Place a hose bib cover over the bib to further insulate it in the winter.
We would ask residents to winterize your hose bibs no later than November 1. Thank you for your understanding and if you have any questions please contact Resident Support Services using the link below.
