1st Round of Shrub Pruning
Posted on Jun 2nd, 2026

Shenandoah will begin pruning in the community this week and anticipates finishing by the end of next week. This will be the first round of pruning for the community this year.

The focus of this pruning cycle will be on ornamental shrubs in the community. This includes shrubs that are in mulch beds in front of the homes, those that lead up walk and stairways, and shrubs overhanging sidewalks will also be cut back. However, not all shrubs in the community may be pruned during this first pruning session. Shrubs that are not pruned during this first cycle will be pruned in a future pruning cycle.

Please note that the community is focusing on returning to a more natural landscape aesthetic and for this reason, shrubs will be pruned so they have a more natural appearance that will help to even out new growth and maintain natural growth habit, remove non-variegated stems, stray shoots, and dead, damaged, or diseased wood. Certain types of shrubs do have a more “formal” appearance and will be hedged/pruned accordingly; however, there are fewer of these types of shrubs throughout the community.

For shrubs/bushes that need to be cut back significantly (i.e. for rejuvenation), this work will not occur until the fall/winter. Bushes that are overgrown/end of life and need to be replaced will be addressed by the Landscaping Committee as part of the Landscape Master Plan.

Residents should not make specific requests with the pruning crews, and they have been directed not to take action on resident pruning requests. If owners have concerns or questions on pruning, please submit a maintenance request or contact the Resident Support Services team. Residents are strongly encouraged to wait until after the first pruning cycle has been completed for the community to see if their concerns or questions related to pruning have been addressed by the landscaper at that time.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we begin the first pruning cycle for the community.
