PLEASE RESPOND: Owner Door Color Survey & Selections
Posted on Jan 5th, 2026

Fairlington Towne Condominium is preparing to engage with a vendor to perform facade maintenance services over the next several years which include the repainting or refinishing of entrance doors (front and back). To assist vendors who will be bidding on the project ETC, the Association's engineer, has asked us to collect data from owners on the existing door style and colors/material.

This survey will be open from Monday, January 5 until Monday, January 19.

The vendor selected to work with Fairlington Towne Condominium will perform the following services on doors depending on what is currently on their entrance doors:

Painted Doors - Repainting Scope:
• Sand/abrade the surface
• Apply one coat of approved primer
• Apply two coats of the approved paint product

Stained Doors - Sealing Scope:
• Lightly sand/abrade the surface
• Clean the wood with an approved wood cleaner
• Apply one coat of the approved clear sealer

Important Expectations for Owners

Painted Doors: Owners with painted doors may select a new paint color through this survey. Owners may not select a stain color. The Association is not staining doors and will not pay to convert a painted door to a stained door.

Any owner wishing to change their door from paint to stain must submit an architectural application and receive approval from the Board of Directors. All costs associated with changing from paint to stain will be the responsibility of the unit owner.

Stained Doors: Owners with existing stained doors will have their doors sealed only. The Association will not apply stain or change the existing stain color. Owners will not be able to select a paint color or a different stain color as part of this project.

Any owner wishing to change from stain to paint or restain their door must submit an architectural application and receive approval from the Board of Directors. All costs associated with changing to paint or restaining will be the responsibility of the unit owner.

Survey Deadline and Default Treatment
Owners who do not complete the survey by the deadline will have their doors repainted or sealed in a manner that most closely matches the approved door colors and finish.

After the completion of this project, any future changes to entrance door color or finish will be the responsibility of the owner and will require submission of an architectural application and approval by the Board of Directors. The Association will maintain a running list of approved door colors established as part of this façade maintenance project.
